and what we don't do!
It is important to identify areas which fall outside the remit of the company. For clarification and information, we are
- not an arms-length governmental body - we are an independent body, financially independent this aims to become non-reliant on public funding. We will, however, provide services, such as advice and research, to local government and its agencies and be commissioned by non- departmental public bodies to provide services against defined contracts.
- not a lobbying body - we will represent those who are active within Cheshire & Warrington Sports Partnership. We will not lobby the government on behalf of the sport and physical activity sector as a whole, instead acting as an authority and expert, building understanding and awareness. We will signpost others to existing lobbying bodies in the industry that include the Sport and Physical Activity Alliance (previously known as the CCPR) and Business in Sport and Leisure.
- apolitical
- not a replacement for bodies which are disbanded in the current financial climate
- not a grant distributor from our own funds - we do distribute national funding as part of national schemes but this is distributing funding from other sources, not our own!
In addition, we will:
- not undermine the work of Sport England or our other key national stakeholders, by ensuring open communications and pursuing collaborative approaches where possible. We will ensure we do not contradict Sport England and other national stakeholders by agreeing key messages and being open where we disagree.
-
not compete with others for territory or resources but will seek to articulate the unique role and characteristics of CSPs, identifying the specific areas where we believe we are best placed to lead or support.
- not compete with other CSPs for work that falls outside our geographical boundary.
