Cheshire East and Warrington Local Authorities

In addition to engaging with our local authority partners to deliver our contracted Sport England services, we offer funded services to both Warrington and Cheshire East councils through an annually agreed SLA. These vary for each local authority but include:
- informing, influencing and shaping local prosvision by sitting on (from advisory role to full member) Boards responsible for the strategic direction of the LA in-house or contacted leisure and sport facility operator. This could include provision of information directly to the Board to inform strategy, performance and services development
- acting as a representative on behalf of the local authority area at local, regional, national or international events (including briefing and de-briefing), advocating and showcasing the best of our local activity to a wider audience
- proactively engaging with NGB's, communicating local authority priorities and deploying local research and intelligence data to inform and influence NGB engagement across Cheshire & Warrington. This also includes proactive promotion of the local authority asset/infrastructure base to NGBs, making the case for NGBs on behalf of our local authorities, so increasing opportunity to secure NGB interventions and investment. Our local authorities can attend and actively engage with the Cheshire & Warrington NGB forum.
- regular engagement events with LA sport-related staff, including access to the CWSPnetwork, our member-only networking site for sports professionals, so ensuring we transfer knowledge in a range of forms and build, together, a local sustainable sporting infrastructure
- co-ordinate sub-regional 'safeguarding through sport' group, providing regular updates re the Independent Safeguarding Authority and organising and delivery of annual safeguarding conference / workshop for LA officers and representatives
- providing research and intelligence through deployment of Sport England's self-help tools to provide and inform local solutions
- written responses to projected facility investment, contracts for leisure stock procurement and operation and other local authority activity
- organising, co-ordinating and delivering high profile celebration / advocacy events.
- champion 2012 on the sub-regional group, liaising with and supporting the local authority representative to ensure connectivity between their plan and sub-regional activity
- providing specific advocacy to target groups to demonstrate the value of sport and physical activity, delivering a powerful message from a credible organisation, linked to a national network, drawing on an extensive evidence base
- producing customised briefing papers and relevant updates on key issues, policy changes / events as they emerge
