Our extended team
The core staff team is supported by others when we require specialist advice, we need to add capacity or we have long term student placements. It also includes hosted NGB staff.
Currently this includes:
Louaz Hofton - CYP
Louaz is working for us on a short term and fractional basis to give us much needed capacity for the organisation of the level 3 School Games event. This new national initiative is a great opportunity to get more young people than ever before enjoying the benefits of playing competitive sport.
The Cheshire and Warrington level 3 multi-sport festival will happen on the 6th July. Louaz will work with other partners (including the 8 local School Games Organisers) to ensure we have effective pathways between school and community sport (whether into clubs or just playing recreationally). The aim is that those young people can continue to play well beyond the 6th July, using this event to develop the sporting habit. He Chairs the event experience planning group.

Abigayle Fitzpatrick - Rising Star (Sport Cheshire sporting bursary)
Abigayle is an 18 year old athlete from Warrington, who specialises in 400m hurdles. Already in her short career, Abigayle has achieved a great deal, including representing Great Britain at the inaugural Youth Olympics, and rising to a ranking of No. 1 in the U20 category in Great Britain.
In her time as one of Sport Cheshire's Rising Stars, Abigayle has also embarked on a University degree, hoping to combine her love of competing to a very high level, with a career as a PE teacher. This busy schedule of training and studying is testament to her determination and work ethic, which continues into 2012 as she aims for gold in the World Junior Championships this summer.
Abigayle's training has ratcheted up this winter in preparation for the world championships in summer and she is happy with her progress so far. Abigayle has used her Rising Stars bursary to enable her to continue to make this progress by covering the many associated expenses such as ongoing physiotherapy and sports science support.
Sport Cheshire are proud to support Abigayle and wish her the very best for 2012 and beyond.
David Bain - Rising Star (Sport Cheshire sporting bursary)
David is 19 years old and an exciting future Olympic prospect from Chester. David's sport is kayaking, within which he competes in a number of disciplines including canoe slalom. David has achieved a tremendous amount at an early age and looks set to continue into the senior ranks, having already trained and competed for Great Britain juniors for 2 years. In his first year with the GB team, David achieved 16th place at the Junior World Championships.
David has been training hard over the winter period in preparation for the important year ahead. Training and competing across Europe and beyond has yielded numerous successes for David who, through a great performance at the British Open, secured a place at the GB Olympic selection event in March. David also achieved a result of 2nd Junior at the extreme world championships. Travelling the world to compete against the best in his sport has been made that little bit easier with the help of Sport Cheshire's Rising Stars bursary.
Sport Cheshire are delighted to support David, who looks set to have an exciting, and even more successful 2012.
