Sport Cheshire to get hands on Olympic torch!

Added on: 22nd February 2012
Our very own Vicky Huyton, the Athletics Co-Ordinator, has just found out she will have the honour of carrying the torch on the 22nd June 2012 - somewhere in between Kendal and Blackpool. She was nominated by her brother back in September for the volunteer work she does as a sprints coach plus a whole heap of other activities Vicky has contributed to growing athletics in her native Lancashire.
Vicky is obviously delighted, stating: "Finding out I was chosen to be a torch bearer is one of the most amazing moments of my life and the fact that it was a nomination from my brother, made it even more special. I have been mesmorised by the Olympic Games since I was a young child and my ambition is to coach an athlete to the Olympics one day, so having my own little part of the Olympics in 2012 on home soil is a dream come true. I am so excited to be a part of it!"
We are all very proud of her (even if a tad envious!")
