Who invests in us
Sport Cheshire has investment from a variety of sources.
Our key national investor is Sport England, who invest in us (along with 48 other CSPs across England) to delivery a wide range of services linked to the delivery of their exciting five-year youth and community sport strategy, 'A Sporting Habit for Life: 2012-2017'. This centres on supporting NGBs, fostering local links and helping to transition young people into clubs. Designed to deliver on Lord Coe's 2012 Games bid promise to inspire a generation to get involved in sport, we await further information on new resources to create effective links locally between schools and sport in the community.
Other national funding sources include the Department of Education (for work links to school - club pathways), Department of Health (via the Youth Sport Trust) and the Social Action Fund, as part of a successful national bid by CSPn (on behalf of the 49 CSPs) and the YMCA to deliver the community games.
We also receive funding from Cheshire West and Chester as part of our 3.5 year contract to provide sport development services on behalf of the Authority. Warrington Borough Council buys from us discreet services to add value to and support both their Directorate and sport development team. We have an in-principle Service Level Agreement for grant funding by Cheshire East for agreed activity on an annual basis.
We, like virtually every other social enterprise, are also working hard to generate our own income streams so we are not totally reliant on grant and contract funding. Current activity includes operating a successful coach education programme (includes courses for anyone involved in running sport so don't think it's limited to coaches) and income from hosting NGB staff. We will shortly launch a local business-to-business networking forum which has sport at its core. If you want to find out more on how perhaps we might be able to help you, please click here.
